Anna Placidi

My work takes on a celebration of still life and captured moments in time, of themes inspired by nature, plants and insects as well as reinterpreting intricate embroidered patterns, textiles and porcelain that I have sourced from Museums around the world and carefully combined with everyday objects and flowers from my own collection.

The use and application of colour creates vibrancy and the combination of objects, flowers, insects and patterns create a sense of joy and life in each piece. I approach each painting in the spirit of the moment, building layer upon layer, finding the perfect balance between form, content, tradition and abstraction. Light, colour, texture and my immediate surroundings are my constant source of inspiration.
