To look at the artist’s studio as a suburb is a way to consider the psychogeography of a micro environment in all its dimensions.

Stillness comes and goes, diverse energies charge the space and begin to map out territories of action and reason, both of logic and the viscera.

My experience with this, came as I relocated into the ‘suburb’ of my own studio; the way shared space can engender an insurgence of creativity and unexpected consilience in practice is an expression of positive spatial idenity. The paintings are about a moment of time spent getting to know myself in a new space, the mark making and layering expand discourse and instil the familiarity of my new environment.
