CAMEILIA GRACE EDWARDS
HOME, IN GOLDEN LIGHT
Cameilia Grace Edwards is an Australian artist based in Inverell, regional New South Wales. Working in oil, her practice centres on light, atmosphere, and the quiet shifts that occur at the end of the day.
Her paintings are inspired by the small, beautiful moments that often pass unnoticed. Through her paintings, Edwards invites a more attentive way of looking, encouraging a pause within the pace of everyday life. Using her own photographic references taken at sunset, Edwards draws from familiar roadside and rural landscapes surrounding her home. These fleeting moments, often overlooked, become the starting point for a slower, layered studio process. Built up through multiple applications of oil paint, her works develop depth through both material and detail.
While grounded in observation, her work moves beyond direct representation. Light softens edges, forms drift in and out of focus, and elements of the landscape begin to dissolve and reappear. There is a balance between clarity and blur, where the experience of a place becomes as important as the place itself.
