Yonder is a tale of the unknown, wonderment, sensitivity, and curiosity in relation to the natural landscape. I use the landscape as a metaphor and a subject, often blurring the line between the two.

My paintings are intended to look and feel as though they could be anywhere while at the same time be drawing inspiration from a specific place. The more abstracted landscapes are given ambiguous titles like the title of this exhibition,‘Yonder’, while the paintings that represent particular origins can be identified in their names like ‘Glenrock in the rain’.

In my quest to pay homage to nature and painting, natural phenomenon like the moon, stars and trees begin to take on a spiritual presence. Ghost gums become spirit trees and the landscape glows with technicolour as if from a dream. The motif of clouds in my work again symbolises the idea of dreams, and the unknown. The alluring combination of painting, landscape and spirituality speaks for and of itself.

So with this perspective in mind, I'd like to extend an invitation to Yonder, wherever it may lead you.
