JOCK YOUNG
SOLO EXHIBITION
Having recently moved back to Avalon from Tasmania I have been enjoying reacquainting myself with the many different moods and subjects of the area, particularly around Pittwater and the neighbouring beaches. I have taken to filling sketch books with plein air gouache and watercolour paintings of the many places I visit. This has allowed me a more spontaneous approach to painting outside. From these sketches, some of which are quite detailed, and others not so much, I have turned into the oil paintings in this exhibition. I have tried to capture the freshness of the original sketches. The paintings here are mainly a result of that process.
