Jordan Richardson
Jordan Richardson’s paintings take breath from an observation of art conservation. The material quality of old paint, its tackiness and elasticity is a daily obsession that drives his painting practice and informs a strategy for paint application.
Richardson’s current work investigates the processes of portraiture, with a depth of pentimenti, excavations of paint layers and the build up of translucent glazes and gestural marks.
Richardson was a finalist in the Archibald Prize 2017 with his portrait of John Bell, and he has been twice highly commended in the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art scholarship in 2014 and 2015 respectively. Richardson holds a Bachelor of Fine Art (Hons) from the National Art School, Sydney.
