The back streets are my Australian landscapes, the neighbourhoods, parks and skies of the inner city.

I’m interested in the displacement of objects. Discarded indoor furniture left
on the footpath outside reveals the character of residents behind faceless apartment blocks. Carefree office workers lie in the sun in an inner city park (or landscape), their behaviour opposed to an office environment. Fly-strip curtains hang indoors instead of outdoors, a confined backyard and big skies are a residents world and landscape.

These juxtapositions give a sense of unease that I look for in my work.
