"My practice is about the land, the environment, earth. My recent works focus on the impact that change in climate can have on the land. My paintings, as with the landscape itself, record the actions layered upon their surface and best described as a fusion of the real and imaginary world combining representational imagery with an abstract language.
For the past three years my time has been divided between living and painting on the South Coast of NSW and working at Warlukurlangu Art Centre in Yuendumu (Central Australia). This rich experience has had a major influence on how I look at the land and I guess how I paint. The conversation between Western and Indigenous landscape painting interests me greatly.
Painting plein-air or in my studio I feel a direct relationship between the two, even though my studio works have a more formal structure, the paintings are built with a memory imbued by experience in the landscape, it is always my reverential love of nature and a deep spiritual affiliation with the land that underpins and guides my work."
