Susan Simonini
SOLO EXHIBITION

Susan Simonini is a multi-disciplinary artist, who completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at Griffith University and has exhibited widely for over two decades. Several years ago, a move to rural Tasmania provided Susan with a wealth of inspiration, and she is now re-examining themes of place and belonging that have been a constant thread in her work. Her abstract paintings are a series of layered and textured impressions of the gridded agricultural landscape and the geometric forms that appear within this landscape, that allow for the aggregation of moments of light and shadow, perspective and time, that all combine to inform Susan’s experience of and connection to the place she now calls home.

Susan’s work is held in numerous public and private collections, including the Gold Coast City Art Gallery and The Mater Hospital and the Etsy Art Collection. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Border Art Prize and the Gold Coast Art and Design Awards, and has been a finalist in the prestigious Glover Prize and the Churchie Emerging Art Prize.
