THE GENTLE HOURS
My painting practice acts as a type of portal between the present & past experience and memories. My connection to place & more specifically the Australian bush landscape, has always been incredibly strong and something, even as a child, I've been aware of. My concern isn't to capture physical exactness, rather a
loose likeness of place & most importantly the essence of how places make me feel and the memories they invoke. I invite my viewer into these personal moments in the hope they might recognise something of their own experience. I try to avoid telling every detail of the story in any painting, with room for ambiguity and
contemplation. 'The Gentle HOURSs' explores moments throughout my life where the land has offered me solace, space to grow & a gentle reminder of just how wonderous mother nature is.
